Musicians
JP Ryan is a self taught guitarist and only started to play in his late teens, also learning to play the piano, mandolin and harmonica which you will hear beautifully present on his well crafted album.
JP's introduction to music is influenced greatly by the huge abundance of Irish and American Folk music that has graced the airwaves and live music scene over the years from Don Maclean to John Legend and Stevie Wonder and everyone else in between. But the prelude of JP’s musical endeavours were very much influenced by old Irish folk songs and after graduating from art college in the mid nineties, JP integrated music and art into his profession in the area of Art and Health, in tandem with playing live music on a leisurely basis. In terms of working in Arts and Health, JP incorporated music and art into his practice as a Visual Artist and Art Psychotherapist primarily in the area of Learning Disabilities - but also in working with Psychiatric, Geriatric, Adolescent & Juvenile individuals. “I would have also used percussive instruments and piano/guitar along with Soundbeam in a way where people could celebrate sound and music collectively, as a positive means of expression whether a musician or not.” – JP Ryan.
