“My Pace” is the debut single by Kildare singer/songwriter Mairead Farrell. The song has a laidback bossa nova grove, deftly driven by a distinctive guitar playing style which fuses well with the quirky, folksy narrative. It was recorded at the production suite studios by well - known producers Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy. Mairead was steeped in traditional music from a young age and became an accomplished tin-whistle and flute player. Whilst living abroad she took up the nylon string guitar. Throughout her travels she dabbled in classical and flamenco music. She took brief residence in Central America to get a taste of latin American folk and bossa nova. These varied and colourful experiences have influenced her work. On returning to Ireland, she spent a year studying music in CSN Cork in 2009. Since then she has been busy working on material for her debut album and gigging around Ireland, which this year includes performing at the Ribbon and Rhythm Festival in Letterkenny and the 2011 Manchester Irish Festival.
