Preachers Son

Description: Preachers Son are Dubliners Brian Hogan (Kíla) and Emmaline Duffy-Fallon (previously of Engine Alley). Together since 2009, they've created a unique, hard-rock sound that positively drips with drama and raw musicality. They describe their music “like a David Byrne, Scott Walker collaboration, or Queen’s greatest hits circa 1980 vs Morrison Hotel. A Led Zeppelin / Leonard Cohen crossover sort of Johnny Cash, Duane Eddie, Bowie doing Talking Heads kinda thing”. LIVE GUESTS: Tabby Callaghan, Ste O'Neill, Joe Leech, Kieran Kennedy (Black Velvet Band, Hothouse Flowers), Shane Fitzsimons (Lisa Hannigan, Damien Rice, Paddy Casey), Dara Munnis (Doctor Leaves, The Coronas, Jack L), Jose Carlos Anselmo Flores, Frailan Moran Mendive and Gavin Ralston.
Brian Hogan is a preacher’s son. His dad was Larry Hogan who was part of the Irish 60’s folk scene with his group We 4. In 1974 he scored a number one album Simple Song Of Love, which led him to preaching and teaching through music before he died in 1998 - the band’s name was chosen in his memory.

Brian Hogan has been playing in bands since the age of ten. At present he is chief bass-man with KíLA, with whom he co-composes and travels the world. With KíLA he has won a Meteor award, earned a platinum, several gold discs and achieved a number-one-hit alongside U2, The Dubliners and the Band of Bowsies with the single The Ballad Of Ronnie Drew. He has enjoyed playing with George Hamilton IV, Bono, U2, Ronnie Wood, Sinéad O Connor, The Dubliners, Paul Brady, Donal Lunny, Liam O Maonlaoí, Glenn Hansard, The Cheeky Girls and John Aldridge. This new line up, Preachers Son (the name referring to his father Larry Hogan who spent his life preaching and singing), contains his own compositions with the odd cover thrown in. Together with drummer Emmaline Duffy-Fallon and guests of mighty stature, “with a grit-glam sound channeling equal parts David Bowie, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, and the Legendary Shack-Shakers, they've created a unique, hard-rock sound that positively drips with drama and raw musicality”
Miss Metronome aka Emmaline Duffy-Fallon is best described as a human metronome. Being a drummer nerd, her influences are Matt Johnson for his perfectly timed fills and because he is a terrific drum teacher, Jody Stevens, for his phrasing, Ringo, because less is more and John Bonham, because he made drums sing, despite the ferocious beating. Miss Metronome plays a Vintage Sonor Kit that she doesn't tune but it always sounds great nevertheless. She calls them her 'magic drums'. She insists (despite scientific proof) that wearing white summer dresses and heels while performing makes her play better. At the age of fifteen she joined the band Engine Alley, signed to Mother records and enjoyed hits such as Infamy, Mrs Winder and Song For Someone. In 1994 she left the band and under the guidance of Paul McGuinness she went solo, releasing single Now or Never in 1995. She then relocated to New York, trained as a dog trainer / behaviourist and continued to play with a selection of bands. Since returning to Europe she has played with Pete Pamf, Nick Kelly and is a founder member of Preachers Son. When she's not rocking hard on the drums she a dog trainer and you can pop along to her fantastic business website on - www.caninecitizenireland.com
